Useful Tip The W/AR/H formula lets you determine the lens field of view heights which could prevent major surprises "on the day". |
Spike Lee There’s always been this hocus-pocus or magical, mystical thing associated with the making of film that sort of psyches people out and makes them think that this cannot be done; that this is a craft that cannot be learned." |

Included in The Director's Template are two forms of formula. The first is the WIDTH/ASPECT RATIO/HEIGHT triangular formula
This formula works that the Aspect Ratio = Width divided by the Height. The Width = Aspect Ratio x Height and the Height = Width divided by Aspect Ratio. This is the most important formula for determining the height of your shot if you measure your width. As well, there is metric/imperial conversion formulas for cm/in and m/ft.
